About this role
An 18-month Legal Graduate Programme inside Standard Bank's Communities of Expertise & SA Legal function, commencing February 2027. The role sits inside a bank's own legal team rather than private practice: technical legal expertise applied to financial resources, product structures, and regulatory controls, working closely with the business on opportunities and risk, with real exposure to data science and innovation within the legal function. Confirmed live directly on Standard Bank's own careers portal, posted 8 September 2026, closing 9 October 2026. Distinct from the bank's separate Group Compliance Graduate Programme, which has already closed.

Meeting the lines is the start. How clearly your file shows them is a separate question, and it is the work we do.
A genuine in-house legal graduate seat at one of South Africa's largest banks, for newly admitted attorneys wanting exposure to financial-sector legal work, regulatory controls, and legal innovation, rather than a second stint in private practice.
Draft a one-paragraph risk note flagging the two biggest regulatory considerations a bank's legal team should raise before approving a new client product structure.
