Services / Early Careers / Assessment Benchmark

The test often arrives before the interview.

That is why preparation has to start earlier. Timed practice for the reasoning and judgement tests employers send before they ever meet you, with a result for each test type that shows you where to focus.

Assessment Benchmark

From R450

Includes A 40-minute timed assessment, with a result for each test type

Best for A screening link on its way

Price on its faceNo hidden costs

LexLaunch assessment tools are for preparation, practice and skills development only. They are not psychometric tests, psychological assessments, diagnoses, professional certifications, employment selection tools or guarantees of performance.

Why this matters

Good candidates fail tests they were never shown how to take.

Candidates do not usually fail because they are not intelligent. They fail because the format, the timing and the decision style are unfamiliar when it counts. The benchmark lets you feel that pressure in advance, where a mistake costs you nothing but practice.

  • 01A screening link arrives with a deadline, and you have never seen the format.
  • 02You read well, but you slow down when the clock is running.
  • 03You pick the answer that feels right, not the one the passage supports.
  • 04Numbers under time pressure make you second-guess yourself.
  • 05You do not know whether you are weak at one test type or at all of them.

What is included

Know what you are walking into, and walk in ready.

The benchmark helps you understand the format, feel the pressure in advance and find your weak spots before an employer link lands.

1

Timed assessment practice

One 40-minute assessment flow built to recreate the pressure of live screening.

2

South African context

Scenarios, legal passages, Rand figures and market references from the local environment.

3

A result for each test type

Your score out of the total, a breakdown by test type against a competitive benchmark, and guidance on where to focus next. We do not reveal which answers were right, so the questions stay fair for everyone who sits them.

4

A clearer sense of readiness

A sharper picture of where you stand before you sit the real thing for a firm or graduate programme.

What you take with you

The format stops being a surprise.

Much of the fear of a timed test is not knowing what it will look like. Practising under the clock makes it familiar before it counts.

What you can count on

You can count on timed practice built for South African screening, a result for each test type and guidance on where to focus next. Employers set their own tests and cut-offs. Your familiarity with the format and your pace under the clock are yours to build, and that is what this is for.

  • You have sat one before

The timing, the question types and the pressure are no longer new when a real link arrives.

  • You see your own pattern

Your result breaks down by test type, so you see which kinds of question hold up and which need work.

  • You get guidance for each type

Each section comes with what usually improves it. These are skills you can practise, not talents you either have or lack.

  • You decide what to practise next

You know whether to keep practising, add a debrief or move on to your applications.

Choose your route

Practice only, or practice plus interpretation.

The core product is the benchmark itself. The debrief adds a one-to-one session, for candidates who want help turning the result into a plan.

Benchmark access

Full Benchmark Session

Best for candidates who want to experience the format, find their weaknesses and start preparing with a clearer idea of what these screens demand.

  • 40-minute timed assessment practice

R450

Assessment plus debrief

Assessment Debrief

Best for candidates who want help reading the result, spotting repeat mistakes and building a focused plan before real firm assessments begin.

  • Everything in the benchmark session
  • A one-to-one debrief after you finish
  • Preparation priorities built around your weak areas
  • Useful if you are already near live applications
R750

Candidate tracks

Law first, with a corporate graduate track too.

The same reasoning skills appear in both. What changes is the setting of the scenarios.

Legal recruitment track

For law students and graduates aiming at vacation work, articles and top commercial law firms.

  • Commercial law and statutory reading passages
  • Legal workplace situational judgement
  • Firm-style reasoning pressure before the interview stage

Corporate graduate track

For candidates entering finance, consulting, banking and related graduate programmes.

  • JSE, Rand and business-data numerical interpretation
  • Corporate workplace situational judgement
  • Commercial reasoning framed around business decisions

Test types

Five kinds of question, in one flow.

Graduate assessment preparation can feel vague until the link arrives. Here is what the practice covers.

Analytical reasoning

Logic, inference and structured judgement under time pressure.

Situational judgement

Workplace scenarios that test prioritising, professionalism and decision quality.

Verbal reasoning

Dense passages where you must separate fact from assumption.

Numerical reasoning

Commercial figures and tables that test speed, accuracy and calm.

Abstract reasoning

Shape sequences that follow a fixed rule, with no legal or business content.

Format awareness

Built around the skills employer-style tests check.

Provider and employer names are used as market context only, so you can recognise the kinds of skills assessed. All benchmark material is original LexLaunch preparation content, not official or confidential employer or provider material.

Watson Glaser-style critical thinking

Original practice in inference, assumptions, deduction, interpretation and judging an argument.

SHL-style reasoning

Original verbal, numerical and logical practice, for the formats common in corporate and financial-services graduate recruitment.

Employer-style situational judgement

Scenarios on escalation, professionalism, communication, ethics and prioritising under pressure.

Corporate graduate context

Useful for law firms, banks, insurers, consulting firms and corporate graduate programmes. It cannot predict any one employer's test, platform or scoring.

After the test

More useful than a score alone.

The value is what the result tells you about your readiness before a real employer starts filtering candidates.

Where it held up

See which test types came out at or near the competitive benchmark, and which fell below it.

Where to focus first

Each test type comes with guidance on what usually improves it, so you know where your next hour of practice should go.

What to do next

Decide whether you need more practice, a debrief, or wider help before live applications.

Questions

Before you choose this service

How do I access the benchmark?

Request access by email. After payment confirmation, your access details and instructions are sent to your inbox.

Can I try anything before I buy?

Yes. The free sample assessment is the best way to understand the format before you request full access.

What is the difference between the R450 assessment and the R750 bundle?

The R450 option gives you the full benchmark. The R750 bundle adds a one-to-one debrief on your results, your weak points and your preparation plan.

Is this only for law students?

No. It is law first, but a separate track supports corporate graduate candidates too.

Is this the same as Watson Glaser or SHL?

No. It is original LexLaunch preparation for similar reasoning skills and employer-style screening pressure, independent of assessment providers and employers.

What should I do after my result?

If the format was the problem, practise again before a live assessment arrives. If the gaps were wider, add the debrief or a Skills Gap Session. If you are already applying, use the result alongside Interview Simulation and your documents. If commercial awareness is the gap, Interview Simulation or the Skills Gap Session is the better place to work on it.
