This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed by LexLaunch Careers in connection with our website, enquiries, advisory services, assessments, candidate resources, communications and related business activities.

This policy should be read with our Terms of Use and any service-specific agreement, quotation, invoice, consent form or notice that applies to a particular engagement.

2. Responsible party and contact

LexLaunch Careers is a South African legal recruitment advisory business. Where we determine the purpose and means of processing personal information, we act as a responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

Depending on your relationship with us, we may process:

• identity and contact information, such as your name, email address and communication details;
• candidate and education information, such as your university, degree, academic background, work experience, target roles, target firms and career interests;
• application and advisory materials, such as CVs, cover letters, written motivations, profile links, draft applications, deadlines and information you choose to provide for review;
• assessment, simulation and readiness information, such as responses, scores, timing information, feedback notes and candidate-access records;
• service administration information, such as enquiries, bookings, invoices, payment status, refund requests and service history;
• marketing and preference information, such as newsletter, watchlist, event or resource preferences; and
• technical and usage information, such as browser information, device information, pages visited, referral source, approximate location and website interaction data.

4. How we collect information

We usually collect personal information directly from you when you contact us, submit a form, request a service, attend a session, complete an assessment, join a watchlist, send documents or communicate with us. We may also collect limited information automatically when you use the website, and we may receive information from a parent, sponsor or other person involved in payment or service administration where appropriate.

We process personal information for legitimate and lawful purposes, including to:

• respond to enquiries and communicate with you;
• assess whether our services are suitable for your needs;
• provide advisory services, application support, assessment readiness, interview simulation, firm-fit work and related candidate support;
• administer access to assessments, candidate resources and protected service areas;
• manage bookings, payments, invoices, refunds, service records and client support;
• send service updates, deadline reminders, resources and marketing communications where permitted;
• protect our website, candidates, systems, intellectual property and legal interests;
• monitor and improve our website, content, services and candidate experience; and
• comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, dispute-resolution and record-keeping obligations.

6. Legal grounds for processing

We process personal information where there is a lawful basis to do so. This may include your consent, the need to take steps before entering into a service agreement, performance of a service agreement, compliance with legal obligations, protection of our legitimate interests or another ground permitted by POPIA.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal or processing that remains justified on another lawful basis.

7. Special personal information and minors

Please do not send us special personal information unless it is specifically requested and relevant to the service. This may include information such as identity documents, health information, criminal history, race or other sensitive information.

Our services are primarily directed at university students, graduates and adult candidates. If a candidate is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must assist with any consent required for the processing of that candidate's personal information.

8. Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information only where appropriate, lawful and connected to the purpose for which it is processed, including to:

• service providers who support our website, communications, administration, bookings, payments, data hosting, analytics, security or business operations;
• professional advisers, auditors, insurers or legal representatives;
• regulators, courts, law enforcement or public authorities where required or permitted by law;
• a parent, guardian, sponsor or payer only to the extent appropriate for payment or administration, unless the candidate consents to broader disclosure; and
• another person or organisation where you instruct us or consent to the disclosure.

We do not send candidate documents, results, private feedback or identifiable testimonials to employers, firms or public platforms without appropriate authority or consent.

9. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

Our website may use first- and third-party cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies. Strictly necessary technologies support core site operation, security, routing, form submission and remembering privacy preferences. Optional performance technologies help us understand website traffic and improve content. Where supported, limited cookieless or consent-status measurement signals may help us understand aggregate site activity without storing optional analytics cookies.
