POPIA created a compliance need inside almost every organisation.

The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) came into full effect in July 2021. It applies to virtually every organisation in South Africa. Privacy analysts, compliance officers, and information governance professionals are needed across banking, healthcare, technology, insurance, and retail: to manage data processing, respond to data subject requests, and maintain defensible compliance.

How your background reads

POPIA is legislation applied to real systems, and firm experience in regulation, contracts and breach response carries over. Employers want to see that you have run data subject requests and dealt with the Information Regulator, not only read the Act.
