Internship for LLB students with an engineering degree · Intake 2026
Apply takes you straight to Spoor & Fisher's own application page.
About this opportunity
For LLB students who already hold an engineering degree. You do the internship while you are studying the LLB, and once you have completed your legal studies you can undertake articles. Spoor & Fisher has a vacancy in its Cape Town office for a Trainee Patent Attorney (Patent Professional Intern) in its Engineering team. Applicants should hold at least a Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.Eng or BSc Eng) in a mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical or similar field. The path is an internship while you pursue the LLB, then articles under experienced patent attorneys, with the aim of qualifying and practising as a patent attorney in South Africa. The posting says you will have the opportunity to undertake articles, which is not a guaranteed place. It gives no closing date and no intake year (the year shown is the year of posting). Email your CV, cover letter, academic record and degree certificate, ID and matric certificate to careers@spoor.com with the subject line "Patent Professional Intern - Engineering". If you are not yet enrolled for the LLB, check with Harold Mdlalose, Human Resources Specialist, on (012) 676 1119 before applying.
